40 year old cigars, still in plastic wrap

Hey all, a friend who knew I smoked the odd cigar came across a rare find and bought a box of 40 year old cigars for me, all still in their plastic wrap, for a cool $21!! They weren't stored in a humidor, and I doubt they ever were...

Do you think it's worth maybe testing one or two, by putting them into my humidor for 2 or 3 months to see if they come good?? Or am I risking contamination of my other cigars, and or my health... ??

Cheers all, any advice on this would be cool.

Put them in a separate humidor and let them rest for a few months. They may have lost there flavor, but its worth a shot. I personally do not believe your health would be in jeopardy by smoking them. Best of luck!

Look for pinholes in the wrappers then maybe purchase an inexpensive humi for them and try it. Freezing them should kill any bugs if they are lightly infested. If the experiment fails, I would not store any new/good sticks in that humi.

Can you post a pic of them?

Here you go: They are Police/Politie brand, circa 1970's. NO idea about them

They actually look quite good, smell ok and I've taken the wrapper off one and it looks ok. They are obviously very VERY dry - so will try one in the humi.
