What's your favorite Pinot?

As I have come to understand, many in this community are frequent wine drinkers (possibly a little too frequently). I would like to start a thread to discuss one of my favorite wines, Pinot Noir. Being that many of you are from California I foresee some serious debate over the topic and I say bring it on!

Here is my personal favorite for the money. It is the 2005 El Molino Pinot, which is sold for a very, very reasonable price. It's just hard to find here in Texas.

Missed this thread. I'm a Pinot guy:

1. Williams Selyem
2. Sea Smoke
3. Flowers
4. Ambullneo
5. Marcassin

There you go!!!

To me, a Pinot should smell and taste like a cigar box filled with currants.....

1. Patz & Hall - far and away my favorite
2. Flowers - a bit more subtle than Patz & Hall - bordering on sublime at times.

I love Pinots, so everything else kind of falls into the great, pretty good, good, etc categories in my book....

Bargain of the year....Trader Joes Grand Reserve Pinot Noir 12.99 and very good for the $$$

Thomas, I am going to pick up a bottle of Sea Smoke and give it a try. I've heard of it, but have not picked any up to try out.

One more thing I would like to add to add, I have found that good Pinots need to be decanted well to let them open up. Drinking a good Pinot too soon after pouring can result in tastes that do not do them justice.

I've had a few that I really like -

Sin Qua Non Omega

David Bruce

Calera

When I have "chuck" money, which is "F-You money", I'm in, baby!!!

No doubt the French Burgundies reign supreme.
