The 917 Thread (Picture Heavy Content)
To me, the 917 will always be the ultimate expression of what a race car truly is, sleek, fast, purposeful, powerful and most importantly, beautiful.
I am a vintage racing fanatic, and have been fortunate enough to see and hear numerous 917's in action at various vintage racing events. Nothing looks or sounds like a 917, whether it be the iconic 917k, any of the long tail variants, or the unbelievable 917/XX Can Am cars with well over 1,000 hp. Some people say the 40+ year old 917k could still be competitive in modern LeMans events if the chicane were removed from the Mulsanne straight. Who knows what the mighty 917/30 could do in todays races.
