mattjs33 | 10-31-2013 12:03 PM | Sprint cars are insane. Back in 2000 the World of Outlaws sprint car series ran a race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Dirt was trucked in and covered the banked NASCAR track. The Sprint cars were running a few seconds a lap faster than the NASCAR record. On dirt. I think they were hitting 160 on the straights.
My cousin runs a sprint car in the IRA series here in the Midwest. Very similar specs to a World of Outlaws car. This summer he shared the podium with Tony Stewart in Plymouth, Wisconsin. Tony told my cousin that if it weren't for the money in NASCAR, he would only run sprint cars. |
