The Formula 1-absent and now defunct US F1 team has been told that it may never again apply to enter an FIA championship, following its failure to make the 2010 grid and - in the process of signing up - having deprived others of the chance. The Ken Anderson and Peter Windsor-formed outfit has also received a 309,000 euro fine.

With Charlotte-based US F1 having been publically announced by Anderson and Windsor in the spring of last year, the squad was unable to complete a single F1 chassis ahead of the current campaign and therefore announced at late notice that it would not be running, leaving a vacant garage in the 2010 pit lane.

Although the team had hoped to reapply for 2011, motorsport governing body the FIA has now released a statement following the extraordinary hearing which it held in Geneva, Switzerland on Wednesday.

With FIA President Jean Todt not present, the Frenchman was represented by a lawyer as the federation confirmed that US F1 would not be able to reapply in the future.

FIA Statement:

‘The World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) has found the USF1 team guilty of having infringed the FIA International Sporting Code, the sporting regulations of the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship and the obligations resulting from its entry in this Championship.

Sanctions:

- a fine of 309,000 euros [255,000 pounds] (a sum equivalent to the Entry Fees for the Championship)

- the disqualification of USF1 (which definitively deprives USF1 of the right to take part, in any way whatsoever, in any competition)

- the payment of the costs incurred by the FIA within the context of this disciplinary procedure'

This was too upsetting for me to post.

That's just that particular team, right? They haven't screwed other US based teams from applying (should they ever) have they?

CrazyRuskie 06-24-2010 11:13 PM

Yeah sounds like its just referring to the USF1 team.

Makes me want to punch Peter Windsor in the throat even more.....

Yeah, but this automatically casts doubt on the next group that applies and will make it that much harder for them to gain acceptance (i.e. credibility.) That is really upsetting.
