Winter pictures - share what you've got

Anybody been out taking cool winter photographs lately? I'm not much of a photographer, but I didn't have anything to do tonight, so I tinkered around the city and took some pictures.

Still working on getting my exposures right, especially working in low light conditions with a tripod. I also messed around with some passing cars, dropping my shutter way down - as you can tell, I didn't get it that well. Still, it was a decent way to spend a few hours.

I used a D70, with a 18-70mm 1:3.5-4.5 lens, and Manfrotto sticks. Unfortunately, I didn't have a wireless shutter release with me.

Question: is it possible to shoot a fast enough shutter at night to capture the snow falling, yet still get proper exposure? Do I need a different lens that can shoot a much larger aperture?

During the night? Wouldn't think so.
During the day, easy peasy. Just use the manual focus and set the aperture as low as you can ... looks awesome if you have lots of snow.

If you want to capture the snow falling and use a long shutter speed, try using the flash during a long exposure. I don't know if you'll like the results, but that's one way to do it.

I thought Felix had a shot of his friends Superleggera at night and he froze the snow flakes falling?
