Cigarette Racing Team Has More Power in its Performance Boats

Mercury Racing and Cigarette Team Up on a Powerful Pair

The Cigarette Racing Team display at the Miami International Boat Show, Booth B-23, will highlight two eye-catching, power-packed models—a new 42’ Huntress with five (5) Mercury Racing 350’s and a newly-powered 38’ Top Gun 90 MPH with a set of hot-off-the-factory floor Mercury Racing 565’s.

Cigarette proudly displays the first Mercury Racing-approved installation of five outboards--an over-the-top signature of this stellar new model that was created as a “one-off” model, with a series of specifications done only for this new boat. “Why are there 5 motors?” people might ask, “Because we couldn’t fit six!” says Skip Braver, Cigarette’s President and CEO. The other 42’ Huntress model at the show sports four Mercury Verado 300’s, a likewise impressive show of power!

The inward-opening side door is heavily engineered with a strong hinge and handle built into the gunnel to facilitate entry to the boat and water. A recessed ladder disappears into a hatch in the teak floor, giving the big walk-around boat a yacht-like feel. On the port side, a door leads to the cabin below—another new feature of this model, which is equipped with a customized, sound-perfected Cigarette Pure by JL Audio system, worked cleverly and discretely into the cockpit and cabin finishes.

The newly designed lounge seating shows the Huntress’ affinity for creature comforts--an example of The Cigarette Difference. A specially engineered electro-hydraulic mechanism draws a bench seat into a luxuriously and ergonomically upholstered lounge and is incorporated into the aft seating—both transom and helm. To the port side, front, is another new ergonomic, stationery front lounge. The seat is sculpted to comfortably support bent knees to prevent sliding while in motion. A wet-bar, including a refrigerator and storage provides additional comfort and convenience features for the sunbathers onboard.

The helm is also ergonomically designed for comfort as bolsters with pull-down seating offer comfort options for supported standing or sitting. The console accommodates three Garmin full-sized, top-of-the-line, 7215 Chartplotters (touch-screen, dual process GPS units). Garmin GMI 10 GPS displays are also networked through a Mercury conversion system and are customizable to show speed, battery voltage, oil pressure, mph, trim angle, oil pressure, engine temp, fuel burn, and many other functions. The cockpit on this 5-engine model also incorporates analogue gauges with custom-built and tailored pods for a customer who likes the performance look of the gauges, as well as the high-tech accommodation of the “glass cockpit” technology.

The dash is a highly-machined, CNC double-anodized, billet aluminum, using a proprietary system to enhance the appearance and corrosion resistance of the new panel with switches designed for simplicity and ease. A hand-made watch was even built into this tech-driven dash. The windlass anchor and audio system including an iPod connection are all at the helm. This cockpit is also equipped with multiple A/C vents and a mister to keep the helm’s captain and passengers cool and comfortable in open-air at any temperature. A bow thruster is added to this Cigarette model for easing in and out of dock spaces—an added plus for the helmsman. The batteries and generator for the cockpit and cabin air conditioner are conveniently accessed aft in the machinery room.

The new T-Top is a highly engineered aluminum structure with solid supports attached to the stringers, providing strength for performance boating’s rigors. The top has 180-degree forward visibility and excellent rear visibility, as well as Cigarette’s dual-colored lighting equipment and the Cigarette Pure by JL Audio system.

The Huntress’ large-scale, 6’ 6”-high cabin is accessed by a solid hydraulic, rattle-free and lockable door which opens with a single switch. Amply sized for headroom clearance, the door slides flush behind the dash adding convenience and easy access to the cockpit or cabin.
Port-side stairs lead to a luxurious space with a couch, flat screen LED TV and Blu-ray player, berth and mini-galley with microwave and refrigerator. A 6’ stand-up head has ample room for movement and an easy-to-use, fresh water vacu-flush toilet with a self-contained tank. The entire Huntress cabin offers a new comfort dimension in powerboating, conveying The Cigarette Difference.

The Top Gun 90+ MPH
While this model is reminiscent of an historic Cigarette model, that is where the comparison stops; this 2012 version, the Top Gun 90+ MPH, can truly achieve the speeds and go the distance, thanks to another proud partnership with Mercury Racing and the installation of its brand new 565 engine—another first for Cigarette Racing Team and the leader in performance propulsion. All part of The Cigarette Difference.

The Mercury Racing 565 is based on the CNC cylinder block of the popular 525 EFI but has increased displacement, redesigned cylinder heads, multiport fuel injection and twin electronic throttle bodies, all combining for 565 HP at the 5000-54000 rpm range. Running on 89 octane pump gas, the engine complies with EPA and CARB exhaust gas emissions limits and comes with a 1-year warranty, both big pluses for recreational boaters.

The 565 also has the Propulsion Control Module (PCM) used on the 1100 and 1350 engines, which provides for digital throttle control, fuel and performance optimization and durability. This technology also drives Mercury Racing’s exclusive Engine Guardian System which monitors engine functions to forewarn of possible problems while processing the data and reducing engine power to a safe level for continued operation; this ability to sense water pressure, temperature and other engine data can help prevent over-heating and related engine damage.

An additional Transmission Control Module, unique to the 565, is dedicated to providing smooth, effortless shifting using the Bravo One XR drive train, combined with a Zero Effort Digital control for an “intuitive” control experience, making the driver “one” with the control of the 565 engine.

This boat’s classic 90+ MPH Cigarette red and white color scheme has “go-fast” written all over it; the billet and carbon fiber trim on the pearl white cockpit, flashes like a smile and is color-coordinated with its 565 engine. The Garmin’s 5208 series can help chart your path and track your engine data and other instrumentation options can be available.

In the “Cover Girl” cabin, a new electrical panel simplifies access to switches and a cushioned, secured cooler keeps your beverages and snacks cool and convenient. A partial berth, along with deeply upholstered lounge seating, provides additional creature comforts.

Displayed on Cigarette’s specially designed and built new MYCO Hydraulic Tilt Trailer, the Top Gun 90+ MPH looks ready for action—and will be as soon as it hits the water!

And Don’t Miss!...
Other new models in the 2012 Miami Show at Cigarette include the 39 Top Fish Sport with its specially-designed front lounge; the “Inspired by AMG” 50’ Marauder with its stunning black and white design and Mercury Racing 1350’s and the 39 Top Gun Open performance center console with twin Mercury Verado 300’s. The always favorite 39 Top Gun Unlimited will also be on display from Thursday through Monday, February 16-10, booth B-23, Miami Beach Convention Center.

From the looks of the people drinking champagne on the deck, I think it got sold at the show. It is impressive in person.

Anyone know what power the original had?

MiniHawk 02-22-2012 11:30 AM

Every Cigarette at that show has sold, I heard :)
