My take on Porsche's in the Bay Area Ca ... first off i love high performance cars (old and new) But i find it very difficult to get excited about Porsche because of where i live. I really like the old 356, 550's and the CGT's... that's about it! The Silicon Valley is the high tech capital of the universe. It is safe to say there is a nice mix of old and new money.... You can't go out without seeing a 997TT in every color during a single lunchtime outing. seriously. you could see up 25+ in 2-3 hours all along the El Camino. Red, black, brown, yellow, cabs, modded . . . etc. etc. There are at least 12 GT3RS's in this area, tons of GT3's and i have already seen 5 997 GT2's in th elast 2 weeks... C2's and C4S all damn day long.... it's like people's commuter car, and i'm not even referring to the 996's either (brand new models). . . I like the brand and i like styling, this place is weird!!! AMG's and M cars are as many as Toyota's and Honda's. werd. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b2...8/IMG_9257.jpg |
thats why i live where i live...big fish in a small pond :) |
Anonymity can be an asset if you want to drive like an a**hole though... :yup: |
I hear ya, although it's nowhere as 'bad' as cali in my area, it still seems like you can't turn a corner without bumping into a 911. GT2/3/RS are more rare but if you want to be unique you got to get something like a ZO6. That coupled with the distorted reality here on TS ;) results in me hardly ever looking twice at a random pcar. Are you swamped with S8's as well? There seem to be a ton of them running around where I work, it's nuts. |
Porsche's are as common as Honda's and Toyota's here |
Get an S5...I have only seen 3 so far in the wild :P 1 Sprint Blue & 2 Black |
LOL! Guilty as charged! My 997TT is my commuter (and track weapon), and our Cayenne S is the family hauler. If I recall this correctly, Panorama (the PCA magazine) had a factoid indicating that roughly 1/3rd of all Porsche's manufactured and still running today are located in California. They are standard issue in the Bay Area... Consider that within a 40 mile radius of San Francisco, we have 7 Porsche dealers... Sonnen Porsche 415-380-8000 900 Redwood Highway Mill Valley, CA, 94941 Rector Motor Car Company 650-348-0111 1010 Cadillac Way Burlingame, CA, 94010 Michael Stead Porsche 925-280-4900 2555 North Main Street Walnut Creek, CA, 94597 Carlsen Porsche 650-701-9200 3636 Haven Ave Redwood City, CA, 94063 Porsche of Fremont 510-623-1111 5740 Cushing Parkway Fremont, CA, 94538 Porsche of Stevens Creek 408-247-1655 4155 Stevens Creek Blvd Santa Clara, CA, 95051 Porsche of Livermore 925-447-6400 3100 Las Positas Road Livermore, CA, 94551 But I love 'em, and always will... predestrian perhaps, but I just look at as an ever-growing brotherhood! :friends: |
^^^ that is nuts ^^^ There is one in my area...and its 35 mins away. |
Hence the need to mod... to personalize and to differentiate. That's why there are so many modded Hondas, BMWs, Toyotas, Acuras, etc. Same goes for porsche :HappyDance: It's even worse when all your friends are mod-aholics and drive high-end cars and it becomes "the norm" or when you go to meets ... |
whats really bad is that 45% of them are soccer moms driving to nordy's wearing sweats, tshirt, sunglasses and those damn fuzzy ugg boots. i hate that chit. dont hate the players i guess... |
