I'm officially part of the club boys(and girls)! So after a year of having my motorcyle permit as not doing anything with it, I took 3 lessons here in NY at Ferrari driving school( no way affiliated with Ferrari of Maranello lol) and took my road test on Monday, I passed and now have my motorcycle lisence. The only person that I know that rides has a Gixxer 600, an won't let me ride his, so If i want to continue riding I have to buy my own bike, any words of wisdom for a bike newbie???? |
invest in protective gear, what bike u ride is secondary. Good helmet. Street Boots. Gloves. leather Jacket or Bionic man. Padded Jeans. Good luck with whatever bike you end up buying. |
Got to elaborate on what you want. Ninja 250 for a first starter bike is always a good idea. If you live in the city a SV650 is my pick for a good all around bike. If style is a little more important the Monster 600's are a great starter bike as well. Protective gear first, then bike. |
Only 3 lessons and a road test and it's over?????! My god, go for a little 500 if you don't want to kill yourself! |
Congrats! Welcome to the most addictive legal thing on the planet. Ride safe. |

A good helmet and leathers that have a built in back guard, boots, gloves. Spend the money on an Arai or Shoei helmet. They fit differently so try them both. Leather or text jacket and pants with elbow, back and knee protection. Gloves with a renforced palm. Boots, riding boots. In all areas outside of the helmet I would recommend the Alpinestars line. Their mid level product is very good. Then go by your bike. Try on a few bikes. Being a tall guy I bought a Duc Monster and have been really happy. Great performance and it's different. More important I bought what fits me. Thinking of buying to a used MV Agusta Brutale or a new Triumph Speed Triple, but I would have to keep the Duc, like it too much. |
a Triumph Daytona 675 !! :HappyDance: |
