Performance Power Racing's Ford GT - Fastest Standing Mile - 283MPH http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/...le-580-327.jpg Just thought I'd share. Performance Power Racing's Ford GT just set the new world record. Previous record was 267MPH by of course, another TT GT, but new record destroyed the previous one. Can you guys believe that? 283MPH in one mile? Freakishly fast. No videos that I found yet, but here are 2 articles on guinessworldrecords site. Fastest Standing Mile Performance Power Racing drives through fastest standing mile record at Kennedy Space Center - - - Latest news - Guinness World Records Some images of the GT. http://www.bimmerboost.com/attachmen...0&d=1351310721 http://www.bimmerboost.com/attachmen...9&d=1351310720 http://www.bimmerboost.com/attachmen...8&d=1351310720 http://www.bimmerboost.com/attachmen...6&d=1351310718 http://www.bimmerboost.com/attachmen...5&d=1351310718 Here's a previous video of same car doing 253 2 years ago. Pretty damn impressive. |
Incredible is an understatement. |
What does a veyron ss do speed/time? |
Yeh. I still don't think it hit me. 283MPH is ridiculous as a top speed to begin with, but in a standing mile? That's just scary. I don't think a Veyron SS ever ran in the standing mile. Just that the top speed on a few mile road with a rolling start of around 120mph was 267mph. Interesting thing though, on forgtforum, a guy with a TT GT said a 2012 Veyron came out to the standing mile, and had 3 runs with the best being 201. Even if it wasn't running at it's best, it still gets absolutely destroyed by these TT GT's. |
A standard veyron does 204.4mph |
Where is the video?! Not seeing it anywhere on the net yet... |

Pardon my ignorance but I guess these cars are faster than the UGR gallardos? I'm not too familiar and just curious. Never really heard about these Ford GTs before :) |
It kills me that people still mention to Bugatti when they talk about these standing mile cars. A lot comes into play with a mile car. |

I mention bugatti for a refrence point. I guess a production car you can drive in traffic that runs 260+mph was just thrown together. Stick 2000hp in anything aerodynamic and i'm sure it will do 250+ in a mile. Constant 1g is 200mph in 10 sec |
Meh does not interest me when you purpose tune a car to achieve records. I like complete products. Anyway here is the video: Worlds Fastest Street Car @ 283mph - PPR Standing Mile Guinness World Record - YouTube |

Edit: On second thought, wtf kind of video was that lol. I was expecting a solid run. |
So, just wondering, at what point should we start being concerned about the tires staying together on these things? Not really sure there are any street tires rated for 300mph on the market yet. |
in for video |
This 283 could not have been run in a mile by a car making the power they claim this GT made. The camo GT makes over 2000whp, and even with a $30K Motec, with traction control and some of the best equipment/tuners in the world wrenching/tuning on this thing, it has gone 263mph. To say that you're going to pick up TWENTY mph at that level, with 300+ less whp in the same car is flat crazy. Picking up 20mph at 260+mph requires insane amounts of power. Now they did have a better surface to run on, could the car have run 283, sure but I do not believe they ran it in a mile. |
Thats insane. Sick car and congrats to the owner and team that built it. |

Holy Crap! |
I'm a nobody to discredit anyone on this but being an internet warrior I'm calling BS until someone posts a real video. Nobody cares until a real video is posted. I'm surprised there arent parodies of the video they just posted saying my Prius went 999mph in 1 mile yet. Yes I'm starting sh1t. Yes I just want to see onboard and whatever other cams they were partially showing already!!! |
Yeah I hear you. Still no video as far as I can tell, and the last one they posted was a damn joke. So I guess record is still at 267. |
