426hp, naturally aspirated, DAMN....2010 Camaro

OK, not looking for the flame throwers, just a nice comparo from some other vehicles I've driven lately.

Drove the SS today. I owned a '72 Rallye Sport 350-4 barrel when I was a teenager, and this thing is very reminiscent, but with all the latest technology to keep it in place with a honking boatload of hp.

The SS w/6speed was the test vehicle today. Put about 12 miles on it, some freeway, and few neighborhood streets, nothing to the limit and no twisties.

The seats are comfortable, the car looks damn good in street attire, no aerokit crap needed. 20" wheels/tires, Brembo brakes, smooth shifter and clutch, and a 6.2 liter Corvette naturally aspirated monster putting out 426 hp. The exhaust note was fantastic.

There is no power lag, as this thing will pull from any gear and pull strong through the first 5 (never got past 5th).

Enjoyed it tremendously. Was a fun ride.

The only negative is the diminished visibility. The hood sits up high, and does not need to, as the engine could drop another inch or two and they could lower it, and the sloping low-rider style roofline gives limited visibility front/rear.

BUT, that said, it's a damn nice ride, and I hope it helps GM tremendously. The SS in good option form is about 35k, not bad for the engine/power/looks factor. I liked it a lot.

The new Camaro is cool, one of the best looking domestic sports cars put out in a while... There is a silver V6 at work with black stripes, and red SS that looks exactly like the one in the picture. The silver doesn't look that good, but the red one is hot.

I love it - even the V6 ones look great. Kudos to GM for keeping it so close to the concept...

I'm actually pretty stoked about this car. It sounds like it's an absolute bargain compared to anything in its class. When the last SS was produced in 2002, it had an MSRP ~$32K and was over 100HP shy of the 2010 model. Then again, the 2002 SS weighed 600 lbs less... In any case, I'd love to have one in my garage.

LOVE the looks of the new Camaro's; only seen one in person.

I'm in NOVA too - they're all over the place.

I saw a dark grey one in my neighborhood today. Some teenage kid driving it and going absolutely crazy with it on local streets.

Hope he didn't crash.

I saw a black SS earlier today. The car is sick.

been seeing them everywhere (along w/ the 2010 stangs). I really need to go drive one :)
