McLaren F1 20th Anniversary

According to this youtube-er, McLaren owners gathered last month on beautiful Lake Gardato to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the McLaren F1′s unveiling at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1992. About twenty cars present, including the first two prototypes the XP3 and XP4, 5 cars in configuration GTR and inside the convoy the presence of some new MP4-12C. A feast for the eyes!About twenty cars present, including the first two prototypes the XP3 and XP4, 5 cars in configuration GTR in the caravan and the presence of some new MP4-12C.

A feast for the eyes!

Btw - Who puts lexus style lights on a Mclaren F1?

That didn't suck.

Sure didn't.

And good effort from the Kiwi and Aussie getting their cars over for it. Tooling around Europe in your HDF F1 can't be to bad though.

I realize you have simply borrowed the videographer's caption, but it was held at the end of May.

3:50 did he hit the wall? Was he just not paying attention or what?

Peloton25 07-15-2012 08:26 PM

No - he certainly came close, but didn't hit the wall. It was a rather tight turn there at the bottom of the hill on the way out of the hotel. The GTRs and other F1s fitted with the 18" wheels have a steering rack that limits their range of motion and gives them a larger turning circle. This makes tight turns a bit more challenging. The owner/driver of that F1 is quite capable and has owned that car for more than a decade now. He also has an F1 road car in his collection as well.

yes i saw that when one of the vids was uploaded at end of may. :) As you said, i just borrowed the text from the first vid.

Whats the story about the white F1 with red wheels and lexus style lights? Has it been crashed once and then the owner restored it this way? The interior looks modified too.

Yes indeed - I was honored with an invitation and had a spectacular time. :)

Nearly 100 of my photos appear in the McLaren F1 thread stickied at the top of this forum. I posted a large set of clickable thumbnails starting at post #1073 but several of the earlier shots shared by others in the preceding posts are mine as well.
