Question on service 2006 model

Hello all!

My brother is seriously considering either a Mas or a Porsche. Both 06 models, and he is wondering about service.

Both cars run around 45K in that year range, give or take. So what is the service impact on the Maserati? I believe the grandsport? What should he look for? I told him to get the F1 trans, since i love the paddle thing.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Robert

Meaning I need to re-read all posts atleast 2 times before posting. I thought It was a question about which one based on "liking" and not service. I don't know anything about service, sorry

LOL, i hear you... i am a fan of Porsche myself but he really likes the way the M looks. Quite tempting if i dont say myself. Very nice sedans.

I'd be willing to bet that the Porsche will be both more reliable and cheaper to maintain than the Maser. It's a toss-up for the looks, but I know which car I'd rather own and it's not Italian...

The clutch is the biggest problem if he gets the F1. Other than that the cars are pretty solid. I'd recommend avoiding the DuoSelect transmission since it's a huge part of the reason those cars have depreciated. Service is every 12.5k with a major at 30k to the tune of around $2500 if I recall correctly.

I can't offer any help with the Maserati side, but we have an 05 Porsche Carrera S which has never had any issue. The Italian sounds incredible, but the Porsche is just perfect all around

I would go for the maserati if it was a gransport model, sounds awesome and I like that cut..other wise the p-car interms of reliability.
