Maserati Bora - Blast from the Past

Maserati Bora - Blast from the Past
Thought I would share some old photos of my '72 Bora. Bought the car as a birthday present to myself on my 31st. Learned a lot from the experience. Constantly ran into folks in Atlanta that knew the car. A Chinese doctor was a previous owner- had lost it on a $30,000 bet on a Falcons game, then bought it back the next week.
Cool car, but a bit heavy. Tall as hell 5th gear... smooth as butter at 150. Dropped the engine cradle one day to replace clutch and water pump, and clean the engine compartment- turned into a 2 year project. Sorry for the crappy images- scans from pix of 25 years ago. Wish I could find some interior shots- the leather seats were out of this world.
Cool design, though- stainless steel roof, very low drag co-efficient for a car designed in the late 60's, engine and ZF transaxle dropped out as a single piece.
With the benefits of hindsight, wish I'd bought the 911 Turbo.

At first I thought 'brave man' but then realised you bought the car when it was still almost like new. Still props for being different, it's a pretty cool car.
On another note; you're 56, I never would've guessed lol.

Sold it. Have no idea where it is now, that was more than 20 years ago.
Thanks, one of the main reasons I was attracted to it was the 'different' aspect- I've always been a serious individualist.
I will try to act my age in the future.

There was actually a ton of room all around the engine except for the forward end. Which, of course, is where the water pump was located. It was incredibly easy to drop that cradle.
