It's a tricky subject, but I for one think it's kind of cool. If the family feel that this is the right thing to do, and it'll make them think of the good times, then why not.
Of course, one cannot help but wonder if they will give him a new headstone when the next M3 comes out, and this will have its suspension carved lower, get a granite sobwoofer, and get sold to the family of a deceased young dooshbag.

Was he buried with his bluetooth earpiece still in his ear?

I'd be pissed if the stone looked like some sort of XXL matchbox toy.
