I have the opportunity to get a great deal on a 2012 Felt Tri Bike.

Two questions: I'm 6'2", 200 lbs., and by my calculations I should be looking at a 62cm frame. The bike in question is a 58cm. Will this be a MAJOR issue?

The second, and most important question, is: Will a tri bike be too harsh for regular road use? Could I add a rear brake and ride it for fun, occasional commute?

To clarify, my tolerance for harsh ride on a bike is like saying I'm ok with a GT3 RS suspension on the street, since I'm getting more performance this way.

 

62cm is HUUUUGE. Im 6ft 1 and ride a 56-57cm.


As long as its full carbon and carbon wheels it will knock out most vibrations.

 

I agree it is big, I too am 6'1" and ride 56-57 .. your leg inseam is a better indicator (not perfect) - as for your weight .. the Felt will be fine.

I'm confused - why doesn't this bike have a rear brake?

The tri will not be too hard for commute, but it comes down more to whether

 

Thanks for the input guys. I had myself figured at a 62, so I guess it's good to hear I should be good on a 58. My inseam is 34 so I think I should be OK, going by what you guys say.

This particular Tri didn't have a rear brake mounted for some reason.

I'll keep looking and hopefully report back with good news soon!
