o.k. it's official: gt3 Mk2 will get carrera based DI engine

Todays german Auto, Motor & Sport Magazine reports that the facelifted GT3 and Turbo will get 3.6 DI engines on the same engine base as the Carreras.
This will end the era for the o.g. engineblock.

Could be that this means the current GT3 will be seen as the last hardcore car with the famed engine base and without driver aids (PSM).
Then again, the new engine will do its job I guess...

However, owning the current car I thought its good news.
Maybe this will turn out to be a point for 997 Mk1 cars for people that value character over pure performance. We will see...

I see current GT3 and RS pricing holding rock steady and eventually going up as the cars will definitely be future collectibles.

Yeah so the engine block will be different but how do the noticeable characteristics change?

CHRiS_01 Jul 23, 2008 06:26 AM

I would say that helps also the 996 GT3!
Without PASM and all that crap it will turn out to be the last real track tool with the M064 engine block :yup:
