Anyone saw this?

This brand new grey Porsche 991 GT3 with only 80 miles on the clock has crashed in the UK, and the carcass is for sale.

The car actually belonged to a Pistonheads member, who took to the site after pictures of the wreckage surfaced. Thankfully, he has reported that everybody involved was uninjured. According to him, he was doing 50mph in a 60mph zone when the car suddenly lost traction and spun into an oncoming vehicle. The impact caused the engine to be ripped out, and the car “was going to roll”, but was halted by a telephone pole.

The ordeal happened a mere 24 hours after the owner picked it up, so it’s a shame that he didn’t get to experience the full potential of the car – especially considering how many awards it won last year; EVO Magazine’s Car of the Year Award and Top Gear’s Richard Hammond’s Car of the Year Award, to name a couple. The owner says he won’t be picking another one up any time soon, despite being offered another build slot by Porsche.

Almost word for word what Preuninger told me. Also he said they were having to rethink some things because they didn't expect all the cars to be tracked as heavily as the market has moved towards.

A Cup Car needs to be rebuilt in 100 hours. The RS is barely broke in at that number.

Are the keys on the right of the wheel on all cars now? Or is that just a RHD thing?

That car was trashed, but I'm not sure why the motor came out. I've had and seen crashes in Porsche way faster than that speed and the motor wasn't near going to come out. The way the post was typed, one would assume that there was something wrong with the car and it just crashed? I don't get that.

Dibs on the seats.

Apparently Porsche are recalling the 991 GT3 according to Bloomberg:

"Porsche Recalls High-Performance 911 GT3 After Fires"

20 February 2014 (Bloomberg) -- Porsche AG is recalling the 911 GT3 sports car and advising owners not to use the high-performance model after two vehicles caught fire following an engine failure.

The recall affects all 785 Porsche 911 GT3 vehicles from the current model year, the Stuttgart, Germany-based automaker said in a statement. The price of the GT3 version of the iconic 911 starts at 137,303 euros ($188,000).

“There have been no accidents or personal injuries,” the Volkswagen AG brand said in the statement. “The internal examinations of the reason for the engine failures aren’t finalized yet.” The two vehicle fires happened in Europe.

Recalls in recent months by carmakers, including VW, Chrysler Group LLC and Toyota Motor Corp., highlight the challenges of adding increasingly sophisticated technology to new models.

Porsche Chief Executive Officer Matthias Mueller said this month that the marque plans to exceed 200,000 in annual deliveries in 2015, three years earlier than first targeted, on demand for the Macan compact sport-utility vehicle going on sale later this year. Porsche’s deliveries rose 15 percent to a record 162,145 vehicles in 2013 as demand for the Boxster and Cayman models more than doubled.

IMHO the motor should have been proved right in Racing before it went into street cars.....but then Porsche would have suffered dearly in Racing the first year or 2....just glad I did not order one. Be interesting to see what the market does on these now

Direct from Atlanta to dealers:
If you own a Porsche GT3, you are to STOP using the car. They have delivered 785 cars worldwide and they want to inspect all of em.
This is damn bad.
