Porsche 918 Spyder Caught Again On Film

Exclusive spy video on the new spyder sporting Martini Livery

Our Teamspeed spies hit the jackpot for us today, filming the new Porsche 918 Spyder out on public roads, close enough to film the car in detail, and really hear the rumble of the new power-plant for the first time. The last test mule spyder we filmed on the ring featured the affixed front dive-planes in the front and rear, plus a larger rear wing, leading us to believe this one does not have the optional track package. See more on that car here at the ring - 918 Spyder at the ring

The 918 Spyder combines a high-performance internal combustion engine with electric drives at the rear and front axles to achieve extraordinary driving performance and excellent efficiency. The system power of all three drives together is 770 hp. The car’s NEDC fuel consumption is forecast to be only around three litres per 100 km, which is equivalent to CO2 emissions of about 70 g/km. The monocoque, consisting of carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP), reduces the car’s weight and delivers remarkable rigidity and precision. Other highlights are the car’s fully variable aerodynamics, adaptive rear axle steering and “top pipes” exhaust system which routes the pipes upwards. All of this makes the Porsche 918 Spyder a super sports car for the future, even though the styling of the prototypes is reminiscent of historical models.

“What we are doing with the 918 Spyder is redefining driving fun, efficiency and performance,” said Wolfgang Hatz, Member of the Executive Board Research and Development of Porsche AG.

With a price tag at around $850,000 USD, this will not be a car that you see at every corner, except if your corner is Teamspeed. Porsche states that only 918 example will be built and will go into production at the end of September 2013 as planned, with the first customers receiving their vehicles before the end of 2013.

Stay tuned to Teamspeed for more on the 918 Spyder soon!

I hope they don't drive it that slowly all the time, the color scheme is very classical as are the curves

Interesting how they are running around with the black and white versions of the livery on prototypes when they have already shown in a formal press release.

Yes, 22Km from Granada....and that's nowhere near Germany.

I love how the camera guy is conveniently on the side and in front of the car for some slow driving. Funny.

This car is amazing I can't say the same about the video quality though. Does NOT do it justice.

Cut us some slack ;-) it's a spy video not a pro production. ;-)
