GT3 3.8 Wheels Painted Black

I want to paint my wheels black I have a black GT3 3.8, I like the hint of silver in the lip. Is the image below the factory "wheels painted black" option?

I think all black looks much better. Silver lip make them look smaller .

Carrera 12-25-2010 11:57 AM

Silver lip looks great.

Marc,
pic u posted is not factory. factory finish has just a thin 1/4'' strip of silver around the lip. also the inner wheel is still silver. weird way to do it anyway. here's a pic of it.

p.s don't know why pic came up smaller here. i sent u a mail instead. :)

agreed

not a fan of all black wheel. all black makes it looks like spare wheel imo. need to have some silver to break the black between the wheel & tire.

IIVVX 12-25-2010 12:43 PM

the silver lips look ricey to me, all black is purposeful. im not a fan of pinstripes either.

Pablo Escobar 12-25-2010 01:48 PM

All black is the way to go imo

F430Spider 12-25-2010 03:33 PM

All black!! Like Vader!!

Haku 12-25-2010 04:10 PM

A matter of taste I guess but for me the silver lip looks very nice as it's contrast highlights the black spokes and silver gt3 center cap. Just like your pic Marc. I too am tempted... hmmmm

Carrera 12-25-2010 05:47 PM

The silver lip also looks retro. That's why Porsche does it that way.

It reminds me of Fuchs.

drdrilz 12-25-2010 06:30 PM

i actually prefer the factory grey wheel. but if you must go black, id go all black

81911 12-25-2010 06:46 PM

The silver makes it look like some damn rota wheel on a Honda.

IIVVX 12-25-2010 07:13 PM

^ what he said

Eddie 12-25-2010 10:54 PM

If you have yellow pccbs I say go for the light gold finish like they have on some the 3rs...

JonA85 12-25-2010 10:58 PM

Don't do it.

Leave it as buddy! Clean and classy, like you ;)

ljg 12-26-2010 03:57 PM

I really like it as is, no reason to mess with that. The picture you posted does like pretty sweet though. All black is getting too common.

"The JC" 12-26-2010 04:41 PM

You're car looks perfect Mark, I wouldn't do anything to the standard wheels.

MeanMachine 12-26-2010 05:01 PM

Keep it as it is, really looks good.

IIVVX 12-26-2010 05:02 PM

seriously, looks perfect stock

rfakhri 12-26-2010 05:50 PM

I actually want to paint my wheels in dark gunmetal grey, similar to the one on the Nissan GTR. I have been struggling to find the paint code. Anyone can help?

Marc 12-26-2010 06:23 PM

TS has spoken and after careful thought it stays stock except for some red seat belts to breakup the interior. If I do wheels ever it will be the HRE40C in Satin Black as a 2nd set.

Thanks guys, 2nd save (calipers were first) :)

Haku 12-26-2010 06:56 PM

Good call Marc. Your car looks great as is.

BTW, we need to have a GT3 get together sometime.

I agree with 20C4S that the OP's photo is not a factory black painted wheel on the gt3. The factory version has only a thin strip of 'silver' (I think that is what 20C4S meant to say) and the interior center section painted a dull grey/silvery color which gets dirty really quickly, especially if you don't have PCCB's. z356
