2010 GT3RS Arrives @ SharkWerks for Surgery Hey fellas, interesting week to say the least- cars from Canada, Texas and then all of a sudden Fred made it all the more interesting. Say hello to his 2010 GT3RS... http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140080.JPG You can see the MK1 GT3 which is getting a 3.9:thumbsup: We had to run things by our new chief scientist since James is glued to two 3.9 motors (plus our 996 one)... http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140088.JPG The noselift option on this car (160K sticker:bowdown:) is actually pretty quick/painless to use. It doesn't go up as high as the TechArt one we're used to but for factory a) it's useful and b) it just works c) makes it easier to put on the lift lol http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140100.JPG The new intake/airbox and the extra inlet is a great idea. Over the past couple of years we dabbled and worked on a similar style intake but didn't really get anywhere on the dyno as fan speeds just aren't realistic. However, with proper airflow I can really see that there's a benefit not to mention the larger ram-air intake scoop on the new RS decklid: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140190.JPG Fred didn't like his "red stiletto" shoes that came from the factory. I can't say I'm a big fan of red wheels either so off they come in order to get done in a less "ho-ish" black... Off comes the center cap (careful here guys) and then you use the factory tool and an almighty wrench/breaker bar. To say that Porsche tightened them on Fred's car would be an understatement. Let's just say the robots that do the job (watch the Nat Geo special) went a little bonkers.... http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140100.JPG Off comes that cap and then you can get access: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140114.JPG [mg]http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010_Porsche_997-_GT3RS_Gray_Red_Fred/P1140126.JPG[/img] With the centerlock removed off comes the wheel: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140131.JPG Pretty light wheel for sure but we already know there's lighter available from Champion, HRE etc... http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140132.JPG For track guys... if you plan on changing wheels at the track be sure you bring a gargantuan torque wrench capable... In comes the wheel now in black: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140193.JPG On the car: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140260.JPG http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140262.JPG With the car up in the air you can see some of the slight differences in the rear suspension (all new brake duct too)... But you'll still likely want to get a bump-steer/toe-steer link upgrade as usual. http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140137.JPG http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140138.JPG Cool side marker but slightly bummed about the stick on "cayenne" style side flares: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140108.JPG Over to the exhaust.... Pardon me for the guys that already know this but I figured we'd confirm once and for-all exactly what's under there. The same factory headers/cats and side mufflers as on the 2010 GT3. No titanium there. The only titanium as you can see is the center muffler and the tips as well. So no big/massive weight savings there (more on this in a mo'). http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140139.JPG Tips are pretty nice looking though: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140150.JPG How light are they? http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140153.JPG Compared to the factory 2010 GT3 tips: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140184.JPG Here's our larger diameter stainless steel SharkWerks tips by comparison: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140156.JPG And installed for show... http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140163.JPG They usually come in black but we've had a few requests so for a few bucks less you can have them in raw stainless too if you want... http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140175.JPG Back to the center muffler. Here's a factory 2010 997GT3 muffler: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140181.JPG Here's the Titanium RS muffler: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140224.JPG And yes you knew it was coming... here's the SharkWerks bypass exhaust in stainless steel: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140225.JPG For those of you that already own our exhaust (thank you!) and awaiting your new RS go ahead and install it on your new RS as well. Even though it's not made from Ti, our piece is still about half the weight anyways. We've actually had 4 other 2010 GT3RS owners already install our exhaust on their car's. So if you want it to be louder and dare I say it (?) even lighter... you can. Being a "Fred" car the exhaust needs to be light but loud so off comes the bumper: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140215.JPG Off comes the side muffler and remember this is X2: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140229.JPG Here's the SharkWerks Track Exhaust ready to be installed in place and on the scales... http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140230.JPG And installed on the car with the bumper back on: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140259.JPG For those of you doing the math- we're saving a total of about 45 pounds off of the bum of the car. With no sub-woofer in these cars getting access to the ECU is easy... too easy:thumbsup: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140116.JPG Time to chat with Todd and get some initial changes made. Car runs great but could use more response, even with the LWF in there I've never been keen on the factory E-gas settings so that gets taken care of with part of the tune. With the decrease in back pressure as a result of our track exhaust we've always combined it with a proper EVOMSit software update/tune: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140121.JPG http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140120.JPG A few other minor things like TC Design's tow-hook (still fits as always): http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140146.JPG That's a wrap for today... http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140271.JPG More to come including a a roll bar, Schroth harness, sub belt brackets, SharkWerks Fire Extinguisher, remove decals etc... |
Congratulations Alex & Fred! What a week :respekt: |
Well done, I was waiting for you guys to get your hands on a 7.2 RS. That is some great weight savings on an already well thought out car! |
Subscribed for finished pics! |
Now just get rid of the lipstick... looks awesome. Congrats, Fred. Nice work, Alex and the boys. |
Personally I love the red wheels, graphics, etc. Only thing I would do is the exhaust and software. |
Fred, the madness continues. You had the Pam, what 2 months and now it's for sale.. Man, you've got to get back on the meds. Pal!! Great acquisition and big congrats..:friends: |
Pinche Fred.... |
Funny week indeed... James was happy as his Canadian brothers came down as you can see from the plates. The GT3 is in for the 3.9 and the TT dropped by for some software tuning and then a trip up the coast. We've got another Canadian car that's being delivered early next week come to think of it;) http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140179.JPG A red shark-a-fied 2010 GT3 sitting next tothe 2007 white GT3 that's having its 3.6L upgraded to our 3.9L: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140186.JPG Showing that the 2010 GT3RS tips have a smaller diameter than the SharkWerks tips: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140160.JPG Black EVO pedals: http://videos.g33kd.net/997/gt3/2010...d/P1140144.JPG |
