the car is nice i am pleased with it... I have always liked the 997 platform it is very planted.. yes i would say that was 6/10ths I did rotate it some, but really did not push very hard, it was the first time i was on track in two months and car had 500 miles on it, with stock pads etc and street tires,.... so ,,,, it was still fun and glad to be back on track...

brakes are great , easy to bring tihe back end around, needs toe work on fron as well as rear for high speed braking, got a little wobble at anything over 155..
definate rotat front shock caps for -3 degrees would help. if your are tracking it hard.

sc must be turned off.. tc control helped me on the up hill turn when rear was light, tc off fun to step out the rear but loss of exit speed. turn in is crisp
heated tires pretty quickliy, deffinate start front around 25 PSI cold came up to 32 which seemed ok.

shifter was great gearing was fine at this track
the 3.8 is noticeable more power..

this is race car that have been working on.. still have some stuff to do..

The more important question is... how does it compare to 996 and 997 GT2s???

930man 09-01-2009 09:13 AM

feels the exact same as the 997 gt2... just less power ... but could be becusei have and extra 60k in wallet! ...

none of these will ever compare to my 996 gt2 that car was a truly built suspension it would flat smoke these cars

True, but the 997 GT2 gives you much better stuff to work with. Lots of trick Motorsports parts. All you really can do is add 997 RSR control arms, dogbone links (A-arms plus toe), and a set of double or triple adjustable race shocks and you are DONE.

Whereas on the 996 GT2 you would have had to change front and rear uprights, rear subframe, plus all of the above to get a similar result. And you still don't have nifty traction control.

I suspect new GT3 is a great car... but I bet you miss the torque a little, especially that great midrange punch while exiting a corner in the GT2.

Oh well, you can always get Sharky's 3.9L engine kit!

basicaly everything underneath was changed on my 996 with HP added... it was a beast... guy i sold it to took second place OLOA in it this year!
