Spied: 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLA
The CLS's little brother is coming into focus

Our Teamspeed spies catch today a completely new 4-door sedan/coupe from Mercedes-Benz based on the next-generation A-class, due in 2013/2014. The car is believed to be named the CLA and it’s going to become an entirely new 4-door coupe model.

The CLA will be a front-wheel drive and based on the MFA platform shared with the upcoming next-generation A-class and B-class models. Those two models make their debut later this year at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. The prototype we see here is dressed in a heavy camouflage but we can make out the basic contours of this compact sedan/coupe. As this is basically an A-class hatch, engine options will be shared with that sister model and include a 2.0-litre with 200 hp and a 2.2-litre diesel with 170 hp.

I don't get it. Where will this fit in the model line up? Between a C and E??

Too bad it's fail wheel drive. Why can't all of these luxury auto makers just stick to what works?

$$ and fuel economy requirements.

the rival would be the 1 series. introduction of subcompact helps manufacturers lower their average mpg to meet gov't standards.

Yet another example of government regs. forcing a manufacturer to make something that nobody wants. A 200HP FWD Mercedes? :wall::wall::wall:
