The one thing that the E30 isn't is cheap.

To keep an E30 in good running order especially from years of neglect can easily set you back 10K.

The car should be good for 150k after this work. Castro does good work and he knows E30s better than anyone out here. He built up our LeMons motor and the thing feels like it will go for 200k...that's on a 200k block that's got about 60 race hours on it. After that all I need is paint. I was thinking I'd try to do it myself--if I ufck it up, well I was going to get it painted anyways. Oh and the driver seat patched / redone / replaced.

Still waiting to see how the suspension is, but that seems to be the only part that's had any love. New KYBs / Bilsteins & a full set of Eibachs w/ a 1" drop.

New hoses all around, flushed radiator core, adjusted the valves and found a tab on the head broke off. It taps like it needs a valve job even after they were adjusted. I need a new head...

This is fun, right?

Thanks for the words of encouragement!

Now that I've been able to drive it, it actually drives really nice. It shows you just how bloated cars today are! By today's standards, this thing is TINY! But it's so easy to toss around, to fit in places and just tool around. I'm used to a giant truck but even my gf's Volvo S60 dwarfs it.

Nah, just commiserating with you.

I love the E30 because they don't make cars like these any more.

The E30 325is that I have only weighs 2800 pounds. When this motor goes I am sticking a bigger BMW motor, like the S52.

That would be a very entertaining ride.

Cleaned it up (best I could with that horrible paint). Interior isn't terrible at all, just needs a stereo and a new drivers' seat. I bought the D Force wheels off our LeMons team car guy (13lb, Spec E30 legal). They're not "period correct" but there were NO tires available for the 14 inchers that it came with. I ain't puttin' Sears MileageMaster 5000s on anything I'm driving! New Direzza Star Specs on this one, WAY more grip than this car needs!

Now I get to hunt around junkyards for parts I need the rest of the windshield squirter system, a shift knob, one taillight (found one already), and apparently a badge.

My terrible car is slightly less terrible

Nice, good luck with the project. I had a lot of fun restoring mine to it's present condition. Soon you'll realize what a "100% working E30" means, if you ever go after that status. lol

I've got mine in the classifieds now actually. I don't really wanna sell it, so I'm not giving it away on my asking price. Nothing drives like the E30!
