iPhone MP3 at 256 bit versus PCM out of good multiple DAC's Even at 256 bit, the sound playing on the same system, was absolutely garbage compares to the sound coming out of the original CD from my SACD player. Not even close. The hollowness in the MP3 was right there staring at you, everything just sounds hollow, and tinny. The mrs noticed it right away as well. And yes, I finally put some music on my iPhone. I guess I should stick with using the iPhone as a music source in cars. |
MP3's are not suitable for serious listening. Yes they are convenient for cars, on the go, in my case the OR. But home, no. You need to use a lossless compression such as FLAC. |

I think for home I will stick to my trusted SACD. I do wish there is a way to burn SACD mixes in native SACD format like you can with PCM CD's, but I do not believe that they exist. |
I still haven't put any music on my iphone. For some reason i'm not tempted to use it as an ipod. (p.s. stuka, i love that you have an e30 mixed in with all those toys:P) |
