Anyone care to explain where the 599 GTO got it's historic livery inspiration from? Any reason for silver/yellow combo?

That's indeed the historical racing livery. Inspired on the livery from the #4153GT 250GTO wich was raced by the Ecurie Francorchamps racing team.
