Ferrari 550 Maranello - Prepared for Cavallino by Oakes!

34 Attachment(s)
This low mile Maranello came in to be prepared for the Cavallino Classic event in Palm Beach Florida this coming January. While in already fantastic shape for an almost 12 year old vehicle, it needed to be taken a step further. Over the course of 42 hours, a wheels off, paint corrective, concours preparation detail was performed.

Through the process of pictures you will see the before and after of the undercarriage detailing, the wheel polishing and sealing, as well as the paint correction and nano ceramic coating afterwords. Hope to announce a Platinum award from this event!

The wheels were removed to tend to the undercarriage and wheel wells, as well as the wheels themselves. Here are some before and afters

Wheels were also completely cleaned, polished and sealed, many qtips were sacrificed for the bolts

The backsides needed the most attention...

The Fronts however, turned immaculate! Lots of shine from the polished lips

Then it was on to the paint work, which was showing consistent depth through out, with a few sanding defects here and there, assumed from the factory. Commonly found, even on current model Ferraris! Here is the before condition, while it has some swirls and rids, overall good condition for an uncorrected car over a decade old.

After about 14 hours of polishing work, the defects were completely removed and the depth and gloss was restored. These photos were shot before the Ceramic was applied.

Looking great, Nick! Thanks for sharing.

(Love the detail work you did on the wheels, alone.)

Big thanks to Nick for this job. Got the car down to Florida last week; it looks stunning. Spectacular work as usual by the boys at Oakes.

The car glows now. There's a new depth to the paint that is beyond anything I've ever seen before-- certainly better than the factory. While the condition from the onset was far from poor, what Nick added was the extra 10-15% that truly takes a master to achieve (as you can see). It also took the finished product to realize how much further the condition could be taken.

I'm really blown away by how it looks. And damn is the car happy too-- I mean, just look at that smile!
