It's amazing how much Panamera DNA is in this prototype

For a design that is 20 years old this year, shows how true to its design roots Porsche is.

I see ALOT of 996 in its shape as well, more so than the 993.

There are a couple of Panamera prototypes running around in Wanaka, New Zealand at Snow Farm doing winter testing. Friend of mine saw them driving through town and commented how dominating they were.

This is an awesome contribution, +1 rep if I could ;).

The resemblance is uncanny.

Wonder if it would have sold very well if it was indeed put into production? The side profile looks EXACTLY like a 996. Which is interesting considering the 996 wasn't going to come out until what, 1999?

Something like THAT would be a "real" 4 door coupe, and a credible threat to something like the CLS and upcoming Aston Rapide.

Yes but AFAIK the design for the 996 had already been lined out much earlier than 1998. However due to the fact that internally there was still a lot of resistance against the design and watercooled engine they launched in the 993 instead. Wich basically acted as a stop gap until the Boxster's and 996's arrival.

Yeah, the design was probably nailed down in the early to mid 90's, but definitely not in 86-87 when this car would have been designed?

Wow, I think it looks better than the current Panamera!

I would feel for the poor souls that would have to sit in the back - with head room like that!

It looked good then and I think it will look great now...
I can see it age'n well too :yup:
