Porsche Recalls 270 Panamera & Cayenne Turbo's
Porsche has issued a recall on 270 Panamera Cayenne Turbo models because the turbine wheel of the turbocharger may fracture due to a casting defect. The recall affects examples of the 2011-2012 Panamera Turbo and Turbo S sedans, and the 2012 Cayenne Turbo sold in North America.
"If the shaft fractures, oil may be drawn into the exhaust system, resulting in smoke and the increased risk of a fire," the safety agency said.
Porsche stopped the production of any additional Panamera Turbo S vehicles and any Panamera Turbo or Cayenne Turbo vehicles equipped with an optional turbo kit last month, it told federal safety regulators. Porsche said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries resulting from the defect and dealers will replace the turbine wheels free of charge. |
