If your Cayman broke tomorrow, would you have regrets?

I guess I could call the indy Porsche shops and talk with them to get some reassurance that they know what they're doing with auto transmissions. I just don't want to be taken advantage of and want to get the best and most thorough care for my car.

I'm not trying to be rude but man ill tell you no blown fuse on earth will start that kind of mishap. Your clutches are burnt for one thing. The tune maybe adjusted the shift points and pressures and in turn eventually ****ed your clutches up.

Agree with what others have said, great post
. This is the stuff we want to see on these forums, car love that normal people don't understand and think we are weird.
You should look into being a writer for one of the car mags, that way you can test out and write about cars for a living. Was my dream job when I was a kid, still think it would be cool when I read a great article about an amazing car.

somebody is living his dream..and sharing it with us...great. That jumping Cayman is one the best Caymen pictures...any chance we can have it high resolution?
all the best and my deepest

It's been awhile guys. Mainly due to the fact that I wanted to gather a significant amount of funds before I started to even put a toe in the water of this transmission repair. I wanted to be financially ready for the worst news.
I'm looking around at a few shops that could take good care of Porsche triptronic transmissions. My biggest concern is that a shop will not do a full tare down and source my the exact problem of failure and will instead just ask me to pay for and install a new tiptronic transmission. More money in their pocket. More importantly I want the shop to not only find the exact problem but have the knowledge to upgrade the fix with a stronger part so it does not happen again.
I've spoken with a few Porsche techs so far and they all believe it is not the torque converter but rather the clutch packs gone bad. This would make sense because if there's no friction material for the gear clutch packs to grab then a whole lot of heat would build up as they slip, ultimately, burning the tranny fluid black. They suggested finding a re-manufactured transmission with upgraded clutch packs and internals.
1. If it is the clutch packs, does anyone know where I can find an '06 tiptronic clutch pack transmission rebuild kit?
The only viable option (so far) is to:
2. Drop my tansmission myself (save like $700) and send it off to these guys and get a re-man one put in place.
Porsche Rebuilt Tiptronic Transmission: Transmission and Clutch & Rebuild Kits
$3k is not bad, after getting my deposit back. I'm thinking about calling them to see if they can send me one with upgraded clutch packs.
Any suggestions from you guys, or site sponsors would be great. I'm from Northern, MD so if any locals trust or know of a shop that can do tiptronic work that would be great.
ECS, do you know of any tiptronic upgrades besisdes the one that vividracing offers for the 997 turbo tiptronic?
