What's The Used Cayman/Cayman S Market Like?

I have a pal who is in the market for a 2007-2009 used Cayman/Cayman S.

What's the market like? What should he expect to pay?

Board Sponsors, send me a PM if you have a car I can forward to him.

Thanks!

It's a buyer's market, like it is for all high-end cars. I think a well-equipped 06 can be had for mid-40s vs. mid-50s last year. Expect to pay $2kish for a CPO car, but that gives you a 100k warranty and dealer service--not a bad deal.

Try to find one that has the PASM + navigation. Most Caymans are poorly equipped since it's Porsche's budget hardtop car. The PASM works really well and is a must have if you take it to the track IMO. The ride stays reasonable but you can firm it back up to stupid hard for track day duty. If you get nav + chrono you get a neat feature where the PSM plots out your lap times in a neat little bar graph. It's pointlessly awesome.

The car doesn't really have any specific issues that I know of, other than an assortment of squeaks and rattles here and there (which my car hasn't had). Check caymanclub.com for a dedicated reference site.

Cayman S will be my next car......only 32 more payments on the GTI!

I'll get a nice '09 at that time :)

I was actually really suprised to see the prices so low on these cars... I'm actually entertaining the idea of Swapping the Cts-V for a Cayman S - I've yet to find one with NAV though - Also Since I'm a complete newb to the Porsche world - PASM?? Whats that??

*Nevermind* Google does wonders - PASM = Porsche Active Susp Managment - That I MUST Have!!!

Is this the same "pal" that was looking at F360s not too long ago? ;)

:friends: I think you might be right; although I think I remember Dana hating on the puniest Porsche's paucity of power.

I see a Cayman in Oversteer's future?

Its doesn't take that much to make a Cayman S an unbelievable track machine.

The cost to certify is approximately $2500.

Cayman S:
08 + cert I'd expect to pay in the mid-high 40s. Certification is definitely worth it.
07 + cert knock off about 2k.
The pricing disparity between these two is minimal

Cayman:
07 + cert mid-high 30s
08 + cert low 40s.

I am basing this off of excellent condition.

Don't rule out 06s, it's the same car.
