Garage wall mount wheel hangers Difficulty rating 1-10: 4 Cost: $75.00 shipped Tools needed: Power Drill Drill bit socket set socket wrench level measuring tape stud finder pencil or marker http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSCN1297.jpg I recently made some wheel racks using closet maid parts from Lowes. didnt really look great but they were functional. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSCN1152.jpg Then I came across Griots hangers. I purchased the shorter length ones because I liked the way they display the wheel. Once you receive your order, it includes the necessary hardware. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSCN1158.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/FSCN1296.jpg First thing you want to do is find the stud. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSCN1298.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSCN1299.jpg Mark the width of the stud. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSCN1301.jpg Line up the hanger so that at least two of the holes line up within the stud width. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSCN1302.jpg Use the drill bit and drill pilot holes. Use the enclosed bolts and washers, then drill one of the bolts to hold the hanger in place. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSCN1303.jpg Use the level to make sure it is mounted straight. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSCN1304.jpg Once the bolts are all in use a socket wrench to make sure they are tight. You only need 4 bolts drilled into the stud to hold 225lbs. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSCN1305.jpg The size of the wheels I have are approximately 27" with tires. I wanted to leave 3-4" between the wheels so I mounted them 31" from the middle of the pole to pole. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSCN1306.jpg Slide the wheels on and your done. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSCN1314.jpg The 305 series on 11" wide wheels fit perfect! http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSCN1309.jpg http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...d/DSCN1308.jpg |
Thanks for the post on the wall mount wheel hangers. Looked on Griots site and could not find them. Called Griots and the person I talked to could locate them online but not in their catalog. Is there an Griots item number you can give me to help locate them. This would be a perfect way to store the chromes for the winter months. Thanks |
