Well, conspicuous consumption was taken to an embarrassing new level in Mumbai where Mukesh Ambani built the first so-called billion dollar house within eye shot of many slums. When I was down there my guide pointed out that, even in the states, Gates/Buffet/Ellison/Koch/etc haven't been that ostentatious.

From a practical matter, though are the roads in Hyderabad better than the ones I saw in Mumbai? Given the streets and the driving habits (honk constantly to let others know where you are), it would seem driving a really nice car past a certain size would be a pretty high risk ordeal for all involved (in or out of the car).

Hyderabad roads are worst, trust me. You wouldn't find a single straight road inside the city without a million potholes.
