nice selection The Artist |
2 Attachment(s) I'm going to have to go with the following F4 Phantom and 15 tomcat. Always been a favorite of mine, but the new raptor looks impressive. |
F15. |
F15 and Sukhoi 27. |
After seeing a F22 at an airshow, I must say that jet is extremely impressive. As was the SU-37 if it had actually made it to production. I like the F14 also, it was the first (I believe) to be able to fire long range atam. Then I'm for the F15/SU27 (different countries but extremely similiar). Then the F16/ F/A-18 (again very similiar. |
F15/F22/F16/Mustang F4 are among my favs. |
I love SR-71 but isn't a true combat fighter... F-15 is really amazing.. is a sat fighter.. but is so old... Today Eurofighter and F-22 are our air guardians! |
Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II aka. "Warthog" Almost 40 years in service with the same unique and amazing design. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...n-flight-2.jpg |

6th gen fighters are very nice: F35, Boeing F/A-XX and Northrop Grumman X-47B: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...light_test.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ql84Ms0Cf8...mannedPRES.jpg Here the story: Fighter Generations The definition of fighter generations has long been subject to debate. However, most agree that the generations break down along these broad lines: Generation 1: Jet propulsion (F-80, German Me 262). Generation 2: Swept wings; range-only radar; infrared missiles (F-86, MiG-15). Generation 3: Supersonic speed; pulse radar; able to shoot at targets beyond visual range (“Century Series” fighters such as F-105; F-4; MiG-17; MiG-21). Generation 4: Pulse-doppler radar; high maneuverability; look-down, shoot-down missiles (F-15, F-16, Mirage 2000, MiG-29). Generation 4+: High agility; sensor fusion; reduced signatures (Eurofighter Typhoon, Su-30, advanced versions of F-16 and F/A-18, Rafale). Generation 4++: Active electronically scanned arrays; continued reduced signatures or some “active” (waveform canceling) stealth; some supercruise (Su-35, F-15SE). Generation 5: All-aspect stealth with internal weapons, extreme agility, full-sensor fusion, integrated avionics, some or full supercruise (F-22, F-35). Potential Generation 6: extreme stealth; efficient in all flight regimes (subsonic to multi-Mach); possible “morphing” capability; smart skins; highly networked; extremely sensitive sensors; optionally manned; directed energy weapons. |
