Vanquish AM310 any day. |
It's a Virage with a different name. |
Yeah, this is very confusing. So Aston release last week that the Virage is ending production, and now they reveal this 'new' DB9 which is identical. I hear that there will even be a 'Virage Pack' for this DB9 taking it up to the old Virage power levels. I'm a HUGE Aston supporter, but I think they've lost the plot with this... |
Indeed - the spec wasn't available when I posted the pics. So it's a Virage, on a Vanquish chassis with DBS power and bootlid. I'd imagine those who bought a Virage are going to be pretty pissed that you can now get their car, lighter, with more power for £18,000 less. Ouch. I take back what I said about thinking AM have lost the plot. The new range is now much simpler, though I wish they'd just called it an upgraded Virage for 2013 MY. That would have made more sense and I prefer the Virage name, it gives the range a nice flow: Vantage, Virage, Vanquish. |

Wow. If you hadn't seen any Astons before and saw this as your first view, I think I'd think this was one of the most beautiful cars I'd ever seen. I mean just look at it: https://teamspeed.com/forums/attachm...5&d=1348047843 Honestly, who cares if it's derivative, it's utterly beautiful and will sound amazing. Many ask why don't they change the styling - how do you improve on perfection? And why would you bother? |

no-one paid full price for Virage it has been available with 20k+ discount for months All they are doing is what they should have done when Virage first launched - regardless of name, called it the DB9 successor rather than an additional car the factory have taken 18 months to realise what everyone else did at launch, or more likely, realised within a few months but have had to wait a respectable period before rectifying their mistake remember that other than exterior skirts/spoilers/etc, CCMs and a few very minor bits of trim, virage and db9 were identical this car keeps the chassis, uses virage body panels but takes a bit of tech from the new vanquish for the engine, hence it having the 510 bhp from the outgoing DBS but 10% more torque (it was 420 lb/ft on DBS) using vanquish engine tech. Could probably easily have 30 more bhp but they need to keep it sensibly lower than vanquish to avoid comparisons |
