Question's about AM V8 Vantage roof antenna
 

1.Could somebody tell me why AM v8 vantage had the whip antenna? 2.Does it still have the whip antenna now?
3.What was the function of the whip antenna?

Googled the fixed roof antenna and came up with only this article from auto express talking about the updates for the 2008's

"At the rear, there’s a revised rear bumper, while the cheap-looking roof-mounted radio antenna has been removed on the fixed-roof model, and replaced by a more modern set-up car- ried invis*ibly in the front windscreen."

But before the facelift, why some of them had, the other of them didn't have the roof antenna?

Could you explain what the function was for the roof-mounted antenna?
