My new daily driver

Hope this isn't too pedestrian for TeamSpeed, but today I picked up this 2006 XJ8. My '98 was just getting tired and I didn't feel like throwing any more money at it. This one has 79K miles, which is a bit above average, but there's no way you could tell by looking at it or driving it. And I simply couldn't beat the price.

The difference between the old car and this new one are like night and day. Where the old car was sluggish and slow, this one is responsive and direct. Of course, the old one was 13 years old. But let me say this new car hauls. Can't imagine what an XJR must drive like. Took it out on the highway last night and was convinced. What a car! And my first car with 18's.

Nice and looks very clean for the miles. My dad had a 95 XJ12 back in the day that spent about half its life in the shop for electrical gremlins. Many years later he decided to see if Jag had changed and we test drove your body style XJR. It definitely hauled ass and looked nice, but he ended up staying the German route.

$16,200 US. I don't know, maybe it's not a super great deal, but it worked for me. At some point I was just glad they were willing to take the old car off my hands!

Obviously it there's a certain amount of trepidation when entering into a relationship with a British car - that and a sense of humor and a healthy credit card. But after the last one, I know what I'm getting into. My non-car enthusiast friends don't get it. I suppose I could have bought something a little more mainstream for about the same money which would have been a couple years newer and have less miles. But you know what? Life is too short to drive boring cars.

That is a great car. They make the sexiest sedan IMO.

That's a lovely example, best wishes!

I wish they stuck with this type of styling.

The new ones have zero appeal to me.
