SL55 AMG Build

Picked up my SL55 this weekend from a MB dealer - it is totally stock, Jasper Blue with black interior and the 18" alloys. Car is great - superb noise - though with the Supercharger it doesn't feel as brutally quick as the 911 Turbo, but just more gives you a constant sense of power.

I have a few plans for it and so will use this thread to track progress.

Here is a quick photo I took:

Plans are:
- Lowering (ordered links for fitting this weekend)
- SL63 spoiler (ordered)
- SL63 19" alloys
- Matte Wrap (either white or black)
- Front Splitter
- Updated Grille (need to decide on 1 or 3 slat and colours)
- Window tints
- SL63 tailights
- Exhaust (something just to get it a tiny bit louder as it is already almost perfect)
- ipod adapter for stock headunit

Will update as things happen.

Congrats and nice choice!

Just my humble opinion... Why would you want to wrap such a beautiful and unique colour?

1)Keep the exterior colour stock.

2) SL65 Front bumper so the SL55 looks like a 030 SL55 Performance Package or as similar as the F1 safety car.

3) Exhaust get a Kleemann Stage 3, includes pulley ecu, Throttle body and headers.

4) SL65 Anthracite rims.

5) SL63 tail lights.

It should look phenomenal.

I dont like the spoiler on these cars.

Congratualtions!!

I used to have a SL 55 with Performance Package and numerous mods. ( have had many ///AMG cars)

I am sure you will love it

Good luck, keep us posted.

I bought the car with a plan to wrap it - so I didn't even think about the colour when I bought it.

Now that I have it though and the paint is so perfect I have doubted my decision to wrap it somewhat. Anyway, I will do the other things first and see how it looks.

The only difficult thing is I think SL63 alloys will suit a white/black SL great, but not really be quite right if I keep it blue.

^ The SL63 tailights are in LED, and a bit more in 'ruby red'. I changed my 55;s tails too.

Get the three slat grill, if your car is a 2003-2004 model, get the 4 slat grill as 2003-2004 SL55's are rare and only those came with the 4 slat grills from the factory.

Dont wrap your SL55, jasper blue is actually a gorgeous color on the SL55, and coming from a guy who had matte black on his SL55, i removed it. Terrible, terrible thing to do on an SL55.

Front splitter you mean front lip right?
