Talk to me about C36. That's right, C36 Just before I left for the Marines, I walked into the local MB dealership and drooled all over the gleaming AMG C36. Fast forward 15 years, and I've found a few really nice, though really high-mileage (~100K miles) C36es out there. The really sweet one I like is silver/black, 100K miles for $5K. What's the servicing/parts/etc. expense for this car? Obviously I'd do a PPI and see if I can get a year-to-year extended warranty. Five grand is seriously chump change to me for a car like this, but I don't want a money pit, either. Finally, if any of you know of any good sources other than Auto Trader, let me know. Thanks in advance for your replies! |
damn for 5k grab it, if it breaks who cares |
That's what I'm saying. The range right now is 93K - 133K mi, $5-7K. I just don't want something to go "pop" and cost me what the car itself cost. |
true but damn i had no idea they were that cheap. that's a sharp looking car for peanuts. http://www.loonder.ru/imgserv/carwal...0x1200-008.jpg |
My wife is giving me all kinds of shit. I might just buy it cash and tell her to STFU while I'm dipping in my AMG... Or not. ;) |
look at dat ass http://www.2phast.com/C36/c36%20rear.jpg and make sure you keep the monoblocs http://www.xrefill.com/mercedes/pict.../c36/c36_6.jpg where is Mohammed when you need him? i bet he had one of these. the motors were handbuilt right? |
Yep, handbuilt 3.6L inline 6-cylinder. And hell yes, I'm keeping the monoblocs. I had even forgotten about the little strip of gray leather at the bottom of the steering wheel. So great - please provide answers folks - is it a money pit???? |
Did these come in manual or only automatic? |

One thing i know for sure, is that there's no way of checking the transmission fluid levels, because the car doesnt have a dip. First thing you should do is replace transmission fluids as they might've been neglected. |
