CL55 AMG's... what a nightmare to sell....

the resale value of these vehicles is pathetic... i was FORCED to trade in a 2001 CL55 amg in pristine condition..... got low 20's for it.. even though blue book wholesale was $32,000..

the car was on ebay for 4 months.... clean as can be!
i had dealers offering me low 20's.... then a few dealer buddies of mine told me that they CL55 is a nightmare car to resell.. good luck getting even wholesale for it....

a great car... not worth $100,000k+... but about $70,000.

AMG's = fast cars and very enjoyable DD's (so drive em hard)
ResValue = FTL (these cars are NOT that special)

having owned a dozen AMG's this is common practice/standard

bad timing because the cl63 is out which replaces the 55 models

You should blame the 2003 CL55 Kompressor, 500hp and gobs of torque it pushed the N/A CL55's really really low and same thing applies to the S-class and N/A S600's.

i know your pain firsthand as I went thru it with my E55 and the CL are historically horrible on resale

This sucks, for you that is. Some lucky bastard got an awesome deal. I cannot believe the resale value on the AMGs. Why are they so low? I would have picked up your CL55 in a heartbeat if I knew about it :yup:

IMO, part of the problem is that it's a 2001. While it shares the body style with the CL55 AMG's through 2006, it has the naturally aspirated (349HP/391TQ) engine, not the supercharged motor (493HP/516TQ) in the 2003-2006 model. I'm sure it's a great car - just operating at a market disadvantage with the later versions.

That is what I mentioned you can Kleeman-ize it by adding an S/C, Cams, headers for 20-25k.
