Thank you for all of the info. My Macbook only has an 80g HD and I was trying to download season 12 of TopGear on iTunes. Those Top Gear Espisodes are about 650 megs each.

How expensive would it be to upgrade the HD in my Macbook? Is it something I can do myself? If not, where should I go to get it done?

Thank you.

It's not terribly expensive or difficult. The Seagate Momentus 320G is around $100, and is an excellent drive. It's pretty straightforward to swap it, but if you're not comfortable taking the machine apart, any Apple store can do it for you.

Replacing the hard drive is quite easy. Pop out your battery. Remove the L bracket (few screws). Pull hard drive out. Undo 4 screws, take off cover. Reinstall cover. Reverse.

There is an actual bulletin from Apple on how to do this at home. If you can tighten/loosen a screw, you can do this.

Easy as one two three. Make sure you have all the applications you need and operating system to reinstall on your new HD.

Thank you all so much for the info. One more question;

Is there a way to simply transfer all of the info on my current HD to a new HD so I can just "plug and play"?

You have to make a recovery of your HD. I don't know how to do that with a Mac, maybe someone here knows. It will take a lot of DVDs for 80GB... you will need an external HD!

Get SuperDuper (which you should have in any case). Make a complete bootable back-up of you HD (using an eternal drive...USB or firewire). When the new drive is installed just restore and you have everything you had before with a lot more space. I just did this myself.
