On the latest episode of Car & Driver abroad, Jethro Bovingdon pits the all-new Porsche Boxster S against the standard model of the new 911 Carrera. The Porsche Boxster S has always been considered the poor man's Porsche, though the latest iteration gives its big brother, a run for its money.

Both Porsche's are powered by the same 3.4-liter flat-six and feature the new electric steering. The Boxster S here is equipped with the electronically controlled PASM suspension and torque vectoring rear differential.

The German brothers battled it out in South Wales on the circuit and drag strip, with performance practically identical on paper.

Jethro reckons if their is a moral victory here it has to be the Boxster S. "The king isn't quite dead, but the prince is getting very, very close."
