991 & 997 Side By Side Comparison Pics Got my car serviced at Walter's Porsche out here in So. Cal and they had a new black 991 'S' on the lot. Took the opportunity to take some side by side pics with my car. Sorry for the lack of quality, taken on an iphone. The 911 definitely has presence. I love it in black, and it's size difference is pretty apparent in person. The other thing that really caught my eye as well was the swooping windshield and how much lower the angle is than the 997. http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...r/photo-52.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...r/photo-50.jpg http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...r/photo-51.jpg |
Hard to tell as your car has alot of work done to it I would need a clean C2S next to another one |
yeah, i wish we had stock for stock... btw i like my wheels.. ;) |
in those pics id take the 997 |
Great photos... but I like your car better... perhaps the changes u had done made ur car a better looking 997.... |
Wow, you schooled that 991.... |

Agreed! Not a great comparison  This was more for me to see how my personal car would par up to the latest and greatest. I was worried that the 991 would be so drastically different that it would eclipse my 997 and make me feel the need to upgrade. After seeing the comparison pictures though I am happy with how the 997 is aging and pleased to see my ol' girl keeping up with the new kid on the block (aesthetically at least). ...and if you still haven't seen a stock 997/991 comparison picture: http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h1...ype-991-07.jpg |
nice to see the differences and a side by side view of what has been changed or revamped. Interesting update. |
I like them each very much in different ways. I prefer the 997 overall though. |
Dig your rims :) |
work miesters are amazing looking wheels but they are bit heavy |
if the 997 got the same lowered roof top as the 991, i'll take the 997 for sure. it'll make the 997 looks more agressive and sleek. |
I prefer the 997. Seems like everyone here feels the same way. Not good news for Porsche. |
The 991 looks much better in person than in pictures. |

I had a chance to see the 991 today at the autoshow in Toronto, I didnt like it as much as the 997 but I really liked it more inperson than in the pics. I think it looks more modern with the cgt consol and It does look more refined as every step forward does with new cars but somethings missing. I still prefur the 997's shape. To be quite honest once you have a moment to look at the car in person it does really look amazing. It has a modern feel, Maybe the thing im looking for isnt there because its a carrera and not the gt version. Not sure, I am struggling to put my finger on it but it just didnt light my fire like the 997 does/did. To each his own and this is all a matter of opinion. With that said, As it stands now Id love/rather catch a nice 997 gt3rs over the 991, but who knows what the GT version will bring. On the other hand the sales guy made it very clear that porsche will be dropping the manual trans in time. Maybe not with this model but the next model will no question not come in manual trans option. I just shook my head an went on looking at other cars in the show. |
I've spent a lot of time around the 991 and although I'm going to be obviously biased, I still prefer the 997 look. The 991 has been raised up front making it appear larger. With the reduced overhang there will be less chance of scrapping the front end on steep drives, but the entire package makes me glad that I had a chance to custom order a 997S--and now keep it for a long while. I understand that the global market is jumping on the 'new' Carrera and that will be great for Porsche. However, in the USA we are seeing continual strength in the used 997 market, indicating to me that there are plenty of customers out there that still really like the 997. |
