2012 Launch Edition 991 Carrera S Coupes Make Their Arrival!

We have just taken in our first two 991 Carrera S Coupe Launch Edition cars. These are cars spec'd by PAG and given to the dealers prior to the launch date of February 4th to show and get customers familiar with the new model. All Launch Edition 991's are Carrera S Coupes fitted with PDK and come in a variety of colors unlike Launch Edition cars of the past that have all been the same color with the same options. For our two launch cars, we were given a Platinum Silver with Black Leather Carrera S loaded up with a host of good options including PDCC and Sport Exhaust to name a few. Our other Launch Edition car is Carrera S Coupe in Carrera White with Yachting Blue, this is a really good looking car and is not the typical combination we would order for our stock inventory, which is cool about these launch cars. This C2S is not as loaded up as some and is a very good price for a 991 at only $111,275.

Last night I got the chance to take out a 991 for the first time with TS member SilverC2S and if you had to pick one word to describe this car it would be... YAHHHHOOOOO. This car is the best car I have ever driven hands down, it literally blew me away how smooth it was on the highway and then how it could instantly morph into what felt like a GT3 on the curves with the Sport Plus engaged. The G-Force monitor is also a really fun new edition that allows you to see how many G's you're pulling through turns breaking and acceleration. There have been lots of great videos on TS of the new Sport Exhaust on these new cars, but it is completely different experiencing it in real life and it's a phenomenal improvement over the PSE in the previous model. All in all I really didn't expect the car to be this big of an improvement, because until driving it, I thought how could it ever be that much better than the 997? I love the 997's, but this car has taken an even greater stride forward than the 997 when it replaced it's predecessor the 996.

Hi Geoffrey,

You wrote: This car is the best car I have ever driven hands down...so its better than a Carrera GT, a GT2RS, or a 997 GT2 or 997.2 GT3?

If so - I´d buy one from you on the spot...but be sure not to fool me...:)

take care,

Carrera 01-25-2012 03:53 PM

The best angle is from dead on in the front, and from the side. Thanks for the pictures!

BTW, WTF is up with all of these buttons!!??

Thanks! Yeah it's longer, but what you really notice in peron is that it's lower and wider, making it look more exotic and substantial than the 997's.

Hahaha! I've never driven a Carrera GT or GT2 RS, but I like it better overall than a GT2 or a GT3 as an everyday driver.

Hi Goeffrey,

OK :)..your answer is fair:) I dont doubt that its more practical than GT2 or GT3..hey..this is a normal 911 and must be more daily usable compared to a GT model..

But I dont drive my Porsches for daily use anyway..

anyway, all the best and thanks for the very good quality pictures..:)

Haha the first button on the base of the seat to the far left is a thigh support button to extend or retract the support for your legs. The button above the base seat adjustment is for the the bolsters on the base of the seat. The one above it and to the right is to adjust the bolsters on the seatback and the round dial is to adjust the lumbar on the seatback.

Just for you Carrera lol
