I'm going to burn in hell for this one.... http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7017/6...6204e9cc_z.jpg ...but to sum up the new 991? It's a 458 Italia on a budget. It doesn't drive like a Panamera (no kidding, but those are the comments I heard). It doesn't drive like the 997. This is a good thing! It doesn't feel like some bloated luxo/mega HP/sedan/Coupe (read over weight E63/M5/Maserati GT/or what ever) It doesn't bore you to tears, at all. It's not numb or over compliant. It'll do anything you ask of it to do. With much greater speed and confidence. It'll save your ass when you get her out of shape (literally, it'll save your ass). It'll take you anywhere you want in comfort and style. It'll make wifey happy, just like the Panamera and Cayenne. (this is a good thing) It's so freak'n good, MORE women will start buying it. (face it, as men, we're thick. Drive fast? check. Sound good? Check. Handle awesome? Check! Comfortable and quiet and streams bluetooth when I want it? ohhh shi..... did I mention its fast? - this doesn't cut it a *most* women's minds) thus the 991 is all of that and a bag of chips. It's about 1/3 the cost of a 458, and it'll pretty much do anything the 458 does (albeit, maybe not quite as quick) but for christ sakes man! It's 1/3 the COST!!!! So there you have it. I've been racking my brain trying to come up with a decent analogy for the new 991. Unlike (this is my opinion mind you) previous generation 911- they clearly were all the immediate predecessor of the previous generation. (okay, so maybe not the 996 to the 993, but you get the idea). The new 991 IS a 911. But a 911 for THIS Century. If you're looking for more of a 993, but more modern- the 997 will suit you just fine. Ain't nothing wrong with her; she's a fantastic car.... (The GTS RWD being my personal fav for a daily). * If this post insults those who currently own, produce, design or are in any way related to the new 991, or any other 911 variant- my apologies. However the 458 Italia is one of THE finest cars I've ever driven in my entire life. It's arguably the first exotic you could (or your wife) literally DAILY drive it in complete comfort, and also thrash around a track if you wish. It's a compliment. From one Porsche guy, to the next. :) |

I get all fuzzy, when I dream about the future 991 models. Imagine a 991 GT3RS 4.8 or a GT2RS. Bricks will be shat. |
