The true price of the Porsche 911 Turbo (BCC)
#32
Alin,
How do you like your new R8 vs your 997 Turbo S? I had a R8 V10 spider M/T, a 997 TT-S, and a 997TT M/T, and of all three I enjoyed the 997.1TT M/T the most by far. I'm curious to see what you think. I wonder if the 991TT will be more engaging and fun than the 997TTS was. I found the 997TTS to be brutally fast, but honestly a little boring and not engaging at all.

However, it's interesting...I had a 997 TT MT that was replaced by the 997 TT-S after listening to the Siren call of PDK. The 997 TT-S is being replaced by the R8 mainly due to the desire to get back to a MT and to enjoy a naturally aspirated engine before every performance car goes to forced induction.

The word special is perceptive.
You want special, it has to be legendary and no longer in reasonable existence.
For example.. an air cooled Porsche.
A BMW road car with an F1 derived V10 engine in it.
Or a Naturally aspirated car of a model that is now FI.
Or...
Any car that is more than 30/40 years old.

The greatest post I have seen in a long time - Thanks!
With these prices, I am (biased) hopefully optomistic that 997 TT and TTS will hold "better" values since the price of entry now will be that much greater.
FWIW - my 2011 TTS cab was just a tinge over $182K sticker - This was/is big money for a "production" P car. With the ~13% increase, that would put the car north of $205,000. I would have walked as my limit after playing with F-cars is capped at $185,000.
I don't (yet) see the performance difference between the 997/991 Turbo and Turbo S being worth the price of entry. Maybe I'm missing something here, but Porsche used to be cool because you could get a "real" sports car for under $100K (CarerraS) - Now a base Carrera S is like $130K?
Maybe I should sell my TTS and do the RR and GTR thing - or
RR + 993 C4S or Turbo
Vintage porsches are starting to look a whole lot nicer to me with these prices.
Its happening to watches - the prices are getting to high, and nothing is moving. It will happen to cars. This pace cannot keep up forever.
