Your blindingly fast new 911 Turbo will only be offered in one transmission choice
Just as in the newly released 991 GT3, there will be no more manual transmission offered in the upcoming new 911 Turbo, PDK is the only choice now. Expectations are for a sub 7:30 time around the famous Nürburgring, making it as fast, or almost as fast around the green-hell as the revered Carrera GT. The Carrera GT lapped the ring in 7:25.
According to Road & Track, the new blindingly fast Turbo will not only be faster then it's predecessor, but will use roughly 13% less fuel than the 997 Turbo, achieved in part to virtual-gear programming in the PDK. Start/stop is now standard, and shuts the engine off under 4 mph.

I know manuals are slower, but is the couple seconds per ring lap worth losing the connection to the car you get with a good, old fashioned manual?
I'm not super knowledgeable on Porsches, but does their 7 speed transmission bolt to the engine in the turbo?

I think they still have manuals on Audi's and BMWs. Super cars are no longer going to have old tech manual transmissions. This way they collect an extra $5-$10K on the MSRP. I have a 1986 Mazda B2000 Pick Up if you need to hold something in your hand!!!
