What Makes a Porsche Unforgettable?

I've just been wondering, what exactly makes a Porsche a "legend" and unforgettable?

Ok yes you have the special cars like the 959, GT1, CGT, etc...

But I'm talking about your everyday 911. Like why is it that the 993TT remains a car that most people drool over whereas the 996TT has been long forgotten? Much like the 997.1 TT when Porsche released the mighty .2 TT pdk.

Will the .2 TT pdk become a "classic" like the 993TT down the road? And why was the 996TT forgotten by most and its resale value slashed significantly in consequence?

What will the future bring?

I've just been thinking as I'm hoping to become an owner of the next Gen 991 Turbo in the coming year or so. Wouldn't be too happy if I purchase one and in a couple of years Porsche release a much enhanced .2 version that would kill the value of my car - and pretty much kill everything else too in the process lol!

Looks, ease of use, interior, exhaust note, manual transmission.

The simple evolution - Every new Porsche shares the basic 911 design, but no significant parts. Also the flawless engineering.

Now the exhaust note of the 997 GT3 def makes that car special and "unforgettable" imo. But why are so many other Porsches like the 996s or even some of the 997.1's being forgotten about and have become increasingly unpopular and undervalued whereas the 993 or even a 930Turbo would hold its value?

Both the 993 and the 930 Turbo took hits to start with...
Almost all cars do... therefore you can never tell what will be a "classic" and what will not
But I think the numbers that are being produced today have a great effect to this. If you have a 996 gt3rs it’s a “wow that’s rare”. But now you need a GT3RS 4.0 in PTS for it to be rare…

For the 996, the excuse I always hear is that it doesn't have the classic 911 shaped headlights. At ~$40k, they are super cheap now.

I think the 997 (.1 or .2) is just too new to be able to tell if it will be a classic. I know I would love to pick up a 997.1 since it does not have direct injection. So, that could be something that props that car's value up in the future.

I personally love the way the 996 looks and wouldn't care if anyone considered it a 'classic' or not in the future. I'm glad they're cheap as hell and hope they stay that way.

shape,engine,performance

just look at tha 993TT,..how could you really forget about those (almost vulgar) lines?
So beautiful and manly!

7.1 has not been forgotten and the 7.2 will never be a classic. Get your facts straight.
