2005 Porsche Turbo S Correction 1-13-2011

Just recently completed this was the first job in my new shop. Porsche modified by Sharkwerks this car had the go but no "Show".

As any 6 year old black finished car, there were RIDS, holograms and dirt in all the tight crevices. Healthy readings everywhere except the roof line which averaged 110 and below to 97 microns.

Pics as the car was brought over by James @ Sharkwerks.

Any remaining LSP residue stripped away.

Initial 50/50 on the wing.

After wool & foam pad compounding.

Door handle had a "Little fingernail scratch problem".

After compounding and middle step of polishing.

http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/p...12-2011022.jpg

Hood had some RIDS, mixed in with some clay marring as I had to go with a aggressive bar to shear the fallout off.

http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/p...12-2011024.jpg

Working this area was going to be tricky as I did not have the option this time of removing the badge.

http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/p...12-2011028.jpg

Correction is coming along.

Engine bay was not bad at all, so thus no reason for before's.

http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/p...12-2011042.jpg

All paint in the engine bay polished with two steps and sealed.

Worked the area under the wing as well, water spots and marring were evident.

http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/p...12-2011045.jpg

Had help from Tony Ito, worked with as our detailer @ Performance Art(old shop I used to run) Tony is very meticulous on interiors especially trunk areas were clients will find clothes folded and anything in there re-organized.

http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/p...12-2011048.jpg

Scratched door handles "tightned up".

Finished product.

Dried out cowl area dressed to a matte non-greasy finish.

Recently we have rain & cold in the Bay Area(SF) but when these sun pics were shot it was quite pleasant, almost 70 degress.

Amazing work as always. I would love to have your job just to be around these cars! Hopefully you get to drop a car off to the customer sometimes LOL.

Fantastic as always! Question: How do you polish in the small areas around the 'turbo' emblem? Did you remove it?

Bullitt44 01-13-2011 10:18 PM

Great work.

As I stated in the write up I did not have the option this time, as on these type of job's the O.E. badge would come off replaced with a new one.

Used my steamer, specialty brushes and loads of patience to clean around the badge.

Cleaning I understand. But I was referring specifically about polishing. Small pad and polish by hand?

LOL. He just said he didn't remove it. Which is what I don't understand. How the hell do you polish AROUND that thing and be effective AND not get polish in all the crevices???

You may love cabs...but this one is a coupe.

Pablo Escobar 01-14-2011 10:28 PM

Looks perfect. Nothing like a detailed solid black widebody...

Would not recommend using those pads with the dremel,Bonehead you use the steamer AFTER the polishing with the small pads thus getting the residue of compound and polish out of the crevices of the badge.

D'oh! I must have been thinking of another thread when I typed that. Quoted, so no ninja editing for me, either!

This reminds me of when you did the ole black mamba eh?

Love the new location/shop. Seriously you deserve this!

Thanks Alex, yes as a FYI for SF Bay Area Teamspeed members my new address is 44386 S. Grimmer Blvd Fremont, CA 94538. My new place is two blocks from the old shop, which is still up the street from Sharkwerks.

With the thiness of modern O.E. paints wet sanding is not advised, however here is a Ferrari F-430 that I wetsanded the entire car.....

Aren't I glad you are so close mate! Car gets finished here and goes right over to you to get the "Show" put on;)

You need to put the BIG KABOSH on it...

mtechnik 01-21-2011 12:00 PM

Your level of work is awesomeness! Great looking shop too. The car looks stunning! Nothing like a shiny black car. :)

Brown Safe 02-01-2011 08:23 PM

BALLER A$$ SKILLS. As someone who used to detail cars ( mainly doing rotary polish) I never had the cajones to try wet sanding. Holy cow doing a whole ferrari is nuts. I can confidently say that car has not looked better in its existence.
