Questions about Centerlocks vs Standard Lugs

Gents,

I received my Turbo S today, which is wonderful and all, however, I have a predicament. I was planning to put HRE 790R's on the car, but I ordered it with centerlocks. Are the wheels interchangeable? If not, is there a method to change the wheels back to standard lug style?

Here's the pics:

Congrats! that er, um seems familiar.... hehe. enjoy my brotha. it is a sick, sick beast. the centerlock hubs are removable IIRC, and the HRE's *should* bolt on.

Yes, the kit is not expensive. Mind you, those CL's look damn nice. No need to rush it, IMO.

Yes, you can switch back to the 5x130 hubs. Surely you will have no trouble finding someone who just wants to trade their 5x130 hubs for your centerlocks?

However, there are some wonderful, very lightweight forged centerlock wheels around that would look fantastic on your car and save nearly 30 lbs of unsprung weight! That would have a dramatic positive affect on acceleration, braking and ride comfort.

I'd stay with centerlocks, looks better.

I would not delete the centerlocks - there are many other options. We make a line of centerlock option wheels specifically for Porsche's. Check it out.

Sorry, but I think those wheels look horrid.

No idea why someone would change the nice standard ones for those, irrespective of weight savings.

You would be a fool to touch a thing!! You have the best spec'd S I have seen. Enjoy it!

Very nicely kitted out. Were there any carbon items that you didn't pick?:respekt:

Door sills? :D

Door sills would have caused another two month wait according to my dealer (Dustin @ Gossett), he assured me I could retrofit them...

The carbon Turbo S sills weren't available with my original build date either. But now available on my rescheduled order.

I think I ordered them on mine too - the only CF I requested. It'll be interesting to see if they are on the car when it arrives.

Hussain, that is a beautiful car. I know your interior is amazing but the picture quality is average, I am sure with a better camera its going to look much better.

Thanks Mo, it's gone for full clear bra right now, but I'll snap some pics when it's back...

What would look really amazing is if you paint the Turbo S logo in Speed yellow, would look good with the brakes.

This looks great as well if you wanted to save some money and just re-finish

I can't do the all black wheel DJ, I had a Carrera S with Black wheels, but the most extreme I could do was the Black Techart 20's with the polished lip.

I thought about doing the centers Meteor, but then I saw these HRE 790R's that are sick...the other options for centerlocks is Axiom M01, but I don't really know that wheel company that well.

If I had your car, I would opt for the Aerokits front lip and the GT2 Side skirts with the matte black oem centres for the stock rims you've got like the exclusive option.

I wouldn't touch a thing. It's just about perfect right off the bat.
